Government Grants

Misterton Parish Council

Provides small grants to local not for profit organisations or individuals.  The grants are for one-off projects or schemes that require funding. Normally you will need to demonstrate how the project will promote the environment and/or community life for residents who live in Misterton. Grants that are for the benefit of an individual resident will however be considered but will normally demonstrate an educational or other benefit that the individual would not gain without funding.

If you want to apply for a grant please look at the criteria in our Grant Awarding Policy below and application form:

Standerings Charity

The Standering’s Charity helps those of any age who are suffering from financial hardship and reside in Misterton. This includes temporary hardship caused by a loss of employment or due to illness.  It may arise from the cost of living crisis or it may be hardship caused by a lack of resources – such as requiring access to the internet to enable someone to obtain gainful employment.

Small grants are therefore available for a range of purposes with the trustees keen to distribute funds to those in need of help. You can also apply on someones behalf.  (Applicants details will always be held in confidence).

If you want to apply or need further information please contact Angela Harrison: theclerk@misterton-notts-pc.gov.uk  or phone 01427 890780.

Sir Stuart & Lady Florence Goodwin Charity

Originally Sir Stuart and Lady Florence Goodwin set up a Trust Fund which provided an annual small gift payment at Easter to the ‘poor and needy’ aged 60 or over.  However,  the  Charity currently helps those who are in need of financial help, over 60 and reside in the old Rural District of East Retford. (This includes Misterton and the surrounding villages, full details are in the form below).

The Charity can help individuals or a group on behalf of an individual. They give grants for a variety of uses including funding mobility scooters and washing machines. Funds have also been given towards roof repairs, funeral costs, bathroom alterations and replacement vehicles. Grants can range from a few hundred pounds to several thousand pounds if necessary.

The Trustees may also consider an application for financial assistance from a charity, group, voluntary group or organisation whose aims are the same as the Sir Stuart and Lady Florence Goodwin Charity, i.e. the relief of poverty.

If you or someone you know could benefit from financial help then contact the Administrator at:  goodwincharity@outlook.com or complete and return the application form below:

Wells Charity

This charity is administered by Misterton Parish Church. The bequest had specified that ‘exhibitions’ (grants) could be given to ‘poor children’ for higher education providing that they were resident in Misterton, had been scholars at a Misterton school for at least six years, and had demonstrated good conduct, regular attendance, and progress in learning. Grants would be given based on merit. Established in 1875, there is now just £500 left in the fund so applications up to this amount are invited.

Applicants should provide information on how they meet the criteria (above) and give more information about their other fund-raising activities. Applications will be considered at the next available meeting of the Parochial Church Council (PCC). Send a letter of application to:
