It can be difficult to know which tier of local government is responsible for which services in the area. Below is a summary of some of the key responsibilities of the County & District Councils.

Nottinghamshire County Council is responsible for:-

  • Street Lighting
  • Education
  • Social Services
  • Fire and Rescue
  • Footpaths and Bridleways
  • Libraries
  • Transportation

Residents can report problems in respect of these matters- such as overgrown hedges that obstruct the pavement, broken street lighting or pot holes directly to  the County Council.
